General Nalani Joss has requested a report on the continuing relationship of the unusual person known as Merdiwen Tirelle Diyo. Report as follows:

Merdiwen is an unusual human creature with green hair, large winged flanges on the side of his head in place of ears, and skin as pale as porcelain. He has ruby red eyes that have been noted to change color depending on what kind of magic he is performing. In all other respects, he appears to be a moderatly tall and thin human. His clothing is consistent - A green vest over a long white shirt with rolled up sleeves, standard issue Farm pants, standard issue Military boots, large golden bracelets, and green gloves that only cover his fingers. A green, grasslike sword is on his left hip and a wooden hammer is on his right hip.

Merdiwen is notable in that he requires little food. He seems to enjoy the act of sharing a meal, but has never been seen seeking out food on his own. When asked, he says "I have magic hair. All hail the sun!" Followup questions involve mimicry of plants, explanations on something called cells and photosynthesis, and some sort of elemental system that he calls Essences. Very few people have been able to make sense of this and a full writeup is beyond the scope of this report.

Merdiwen describes himself as an anthroporphic human, or a "human shaped human". This is apparently different from a standard human. He also describes Thruul M'Gon as a "god shaped human", Skyla Noel Gon as a "monster shaped human", and Melvin as a "Human shaped slime hybrid". The title of his species is "Human". He describes this in the same way we describe differences in nationality or place: his homeland is the home of faerie creatures, he is of the subtype Lythian, and every one of the Fae have as much or more differences in their appearances as he does.

Merdiwen has multiple acknowledged titles
- First Tinker - The one who granted the Tinkers with the Hero Engine
- Scion of Karee - His patron, the goddess of truth
- The Traveller - As a person who wanders the land in search of places to be, he appears to travel far further than most people even dream about
- Aura Swordsman - An official designation from the Military Faction's Unique Units division. He has the ability to project multiple objects outside of his person, most of which are swords
- Five-Fold Puppeteer - An unofficial designiation that Merdiwen brings up whenever his official military title is mentioned. This is usually met with an impromptu demonstration of a pocket sized puppet wielding an obscenely large weapon for its size. If advanced knowledge is given, five puppets are on display instead.

I ran through a series of training exercises and creative tasks with him to gauge his abilities. Details below

* None of his capabilities can be classified as standard in any reasonable measure. He appears to augment himself to suit any task to exactly the specified amount.
Tasks of greater and greater skill are all met with extreme precision and dutiful tact. He never appears bored with the tasks, but given enough time his characteristic snarky grin will come out.

* Merdiwen is capable of an advanced form of puppetry that works on inanimate objects at a distance. This allows him to control a large variety of weapons. He refuses to pick up a bow and instead would stab someone from hundreds of feet away.

* Merdiwen seems to be treating us as a sort of crop. He tends to the people around him, making sure they have enough supplies and knowledge to make it through whatever they're doing. Somehow his gifts are in the shape of swords, even if that gift is a loaf of bread. When asked about this, his only reply is "Saki likes swords."

* Merdiwen describes elements as a combination of essences. He seems to grasp immediately what things are as long as they are explained sufficiently, but sometimes gets lost in the jargon. I suspect he is working on a more fundamental application of elements than we are.
** All magical abilities that can be performed are performed. Somehow they end up in the form of a sword, which makes no sense to me. Further investigation is required.

It's been wonderful to watch you grow from a band of roving technology enthuasists into a full on Stratocracy with a focus on merit and skill. Given the state of the slimes eating everything, I can't imagine many other ways in which you could spread information so far and keep yourselves alive.
